Meet Our Team

FrogHops Sports is a veteran-owned, multisport company. The founder, Rey Letada, is a retired U.S. Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman, a former Navy Diver, Naval Parachutist, and a combat veteran of Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. Multiple complex injuries had resulted from his twenty-two years of honorable military service, and these injuries required months of intense physical therapy. When his body had adequately healed, he took up running. Running, he discovered, not only defied what he had thought were his physical limitations, but it also served as a vehicle for honoring comrades-in-arms.

"For me, running not only rejuvenates, it liberates. It is transformative and transcendent, a far better cure than any drug. I do most of my thinking when I am running, especially when something disturbs me. Every step brings greater clarity, every stride improves peace of mind.”

Rey's first race was the Monster Dash Half Marathon in October of 2014. He has since completed many incredible feats, including four 50k's, six 50 milers, three Ragnar’s, six 100 milers (including the SkyDive Ultra, where he parachutes to the ground and continues to complete a 100-mile run), a 150-mile Ultra marathon, three half-triathlons (70.3), one full IRONMAN (140.6). Furthermore, he has also swum the frigid waters of Resurrection Bay Alaska, Alcatraz, and a 42-mile staged open water swim from the Naval Base Great Lakes to Chicago, his longest distance by far.

FrogHops Sports is known for its series of themed running events, held throughout the year in Libertyville, Illinois. Aside from the annual Bunny Wabbit Run (200m Kids Dash, 5K, 10K & 15K) accompanied by the Easter Egg Hunt in the spring, the Freedom Frog Run (5K, 10K & a half marathon) for the summer, and the Arctic Frog Endurance Run (15K, 25K & 50K) in the winter.

Rey hopes to share his passion by using his decades of military and athletic experience to put together events that are not only well-organized but fun. He also continues to run in honor of our men and women in the military, particularly those who have made the Ultimate Sacrifice in the service of our country.
